Jon Moseley, Ph.D.

For the last 18 years, Dr. Moseley has been the Director of Applied Research for Wright Medical in Memphis, Tennessee, where he is responsible for managing the company’s programs in biomaterials research, testing and analysis. His areas of interest include polymeric biomaterials for orthopedic implants and tissue engineering of bone. Dr. Moseley is an inventor on 10 issued U.S. patents, including five that protect commercially successful medical devices. He is a member of the Society for Biomaterials, the Orthopedic Research Society, The American Chemical Society and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). He is the chairman of ASTM subcommittee F04.11 on polymeric materials for medical and surgical devices, and is a member of the U.S. delegation to ISO TC-150 on Implants for Surgery.
Dr. Moseley received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alabama and worked for E.I. DuPont de Nemours for seven years in nuclear materials production. He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, studying under Dr. Jack Lemons. He has worked in the medical device industry for over 25 years, first for W. L. Gore, developing materials for cardiovascular and neurosurgical implants, and then for Closure Medical, developing absorbable tissue adhesives.
