The use of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) is expected to profoundly impact the future of surgical training, planning and navigation. As more VR and AR software companies enter the specialty, orthopedic engineers and product development professionals should understand how these technologies improve surgeon skills, influence surgeon decision making in and out of the O.R. and interact with implants.

During this presentation, VR and AR experts focused on orthopedics will provide insight into how their technology works and its clinical benefits, as well as what it means for surgeons and device companies in and outside of the O.R. After their presentation, they'll engage in a group discussion on future applications and adoption of VR and AR in orthopedics.

Learning Objectives

  • Understanding of VR and AR, how they're different and how they're used in orthopedics today

  • Learn how orthopedic companies are embracing VR and AR to train surgeons on technique and surgical planning

  • Gain insight into the expected growth of VR and AR in orthopedics
