Description

In 2018, ISO published its first standard related to implant coatings. The standard covers coatings on non-active implants, specifying requirements concerned with generic coating properties, including chemical and phase compositions, surface texture, coating coverage integrity, dissolvability, coating thickness, adhesion strength, abrasion resistance, porosity, pore size and surface wettability. Gary Fischman, Ph.D., the U.S.-voting member of ISO/TC 150/WG 12 on implant coatings, will highlight the specifics of the standard and share the future of coating standards.

Attendee Takeaways
