Reimbursement continues to decline; payors and providers seek payment models that reward the value and quality of services delivered, and not the volume of said services. What role will advancements in orthopaedic devices play in this environment? An orthopaedic surgeon, inventor and Cleveland Clinic President, Wael Barsoum, M.D., outlines his predictions for products that hospitals will and won't purchase in the future. Citing historical and current advancements in technology and their subsequent adoption rates, Dr. Barsoum makes a case for focusing on transformational changes and not tweaks to your next product.
